2014 Range Rover Sport: The Best Round of Pictures Yet

In the rare chance that you had any doubts whether Land Rover's 2014 Range Rover Sport is the worst kept secret of the 2013 New York Auto Show, here's a new round of images showing the premium SUV from all four corners, and which just surfaced online.

The sportier-looking (and theoretically, –handling) sibling of the Range Rover Mk4, rides on the latter's all-aluminum, bonded and riveted PLA (Premium Lightweight Architecture) platform. The switch to from steel to aluminum construction will help the Range Rover Sport Mk2 shed as much as 300 kg or (661 pounds) over its predecessor.

We expect Land Rover to release details later today during a special event in New York, but the Sport will likely launch with a selection of supercharged V6 and V8 gasoline engines and V6 and V8 turbo diesels.

Visually, the new Sport looks like what you'd expect it to be: a more dynamic version of the Range Rover Mk4 with sleeker proportions, a lowered roofline, more angled front and rear windshields and a shorter rear overhang.

Sang Yong Reveals LIV-1 Concept Prior to Seoul Motor Show Debut

SsangYong is known around the world for making some of the least aesthetically pleasing vehicles on the road – the Rodius and Actyon can confirm that more than words ever could. However, we imagine this does not sit very well with the heads of the company, who have decided that the brand needs a stylistic makeover, in order to break new ground.

They have revealed several promising concepts in recent years, and one of their latest models, the Korando, isn't half-bad, and it's very competitively priced. The latest concept from the South Korean automaker is the LIV-1, which stands for "Limitless Interface Vehicle".

It is a large premium SUV, which probably previews a future production model. No word on what powers it, or any technical details for that matter, and we will have to wait until March 28, when it is set to be revealed at the 2013 Seoul International Motor Show to learn more.

Jaguar Celebrates 25 Years of R Performance Brand with Extreme XKR-S GT in New York

Jaguar has released photos of what it calls the “ultimate road-going XK”, the XKR-S GT, which will be unveiled at the New York Auto Show. The XKR-S GT will be built in a limited edition of only 30 cars, all destined for the North American market.

Based on the XKR-S, the GT version gets the same 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine developing 542hp (550PS), mated to the same six-speed automatic gearbox. What makes the XKR-S GT stand out from its sibling, though, is the racing-style bodykit, dominated by a huge carbon fiber rear wing. Jaguar states that the wing pushes the car with 145 kg (320 lbs) of downforce at the top speed of 186 mph (300 km/h).

There’s also a carbon fiber front splitter that extends the front bumper by 60 mm (2.3 in), carbon fiber winglets and wheel arch extensions designed to improve the airflow around the car and to provide the engine and brakes with extra cooling.

Extra vents in the hood and a carbon fiber rear diffuser complete the XKR-S GT’s performance-oriented bodykit. While the car’s top speed is the same as the regular XKR-S at 174mph (280km/h)., the 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) drops from 4.2 to 3.9 seconds, thanks to the improved aerodynamics.

The XKR-S GT benefits from Jaguar’s experience of developing the F-Type, and has new front and rear suspension arms, uprights, wheel bearings, bushings and rear sub-frame designs inspired by those on the smaller Jaguar.

Compared to the XKR-S, the GT version has racing-inspired twin-rate springs and upgraded height-adjustable dampers, 68 percent and 25 percent stiffer front and rear respectively. It also has a 52mm-wider front track and the faster steering rack from the F-Type.

The GT is also the first Jaguar to feature carbon ceramic brakes, with 398 mm (15.6 in) and 380mm (14.9 in) front/rear discs and yellow calipers. Fitting this system saved 21 kg (46 lbs) of the car’s mass, according to the release.

Finally, the XKR-S GT has unique 20-inch alloy wheels with Pirelli Corsa tyres specially developed for the car. Initial production will be limited to just 30 units, making it the rarest 'R' model in the 25-year history of Jaguar's R performance cars.

Utilising race-car derived technology, all-aluminium construction and an uncompromised approach to aerodynamic efficiency, the result is a car as capable on the track as it is exhilarating on the road."
